A simple method for judging the performance of sealant

When the sealant is punched out from the plastic bottle into a rubber strip, the following properties can be tested or simply judged in the process of gluing and observing the rubber strip.(1) Extrudability: You can initially feel the extrudability of glue by the difficulty of gluing.(2) Curing performance: After the tape is punched out, the surface drying time, debonding time and complete curing time can be measured to determine whether the curing performance is normal.(3) Thixotropic: After the rubber strip is punched out, it will not deform when placed horizontally, and the thixotropy of the surface sealant is qualified. If there is a phenomenon of flowing deformation, it indicates that the thixotropy is not good.(4) Hardness: After the adhesive tape is completely cured (generally about 1-2 days), you can feel the hardness of the adhesive tape by pressing it with your fingers. This method can be used to compare the hardness.(5) Strength, elasticity and elongation: The strength, elasticity and elongation can be relatively judged by pulling the completely cured rubber strip. Attention should be paid to this experiment: We usually beat the adhesive tape on the paper. After tearing the adhesive tape from the paper, we often stick a layer of paper on the adhesive tape. If the adhesive tape is pulled in this way, it will tear as soon as it is pulled, and the adhesive tape stuck on the paper will tear a hole. Because silicone sealants's tear strength is generally low, the stress caused by stretching will concentrate on the tear, and it is easy to pull the adhesive tape from here, which will affect observation and judgment. The correct way is to beat the adhesive tape on the plastic film, and pull the adhesive tape to judge the performance after the adhesive tape is completely cured.
